This course will increase your knowledge and competency through training to become a State qualified CNA Instructor. RNs will be trained not only in the principles of adult learning but will be given the opportunity to increase their teaching competency as they lead and teach students through the state-approved nurse aide curriculum.

 Pre-Requisites:

• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN), with 2 years of RN experience.
• One year of which has to be Long term Care (LTC)experience, or the one year LTC is waived if teaching in a program where the Program Coordinator meets the One year of LTC State Guideline.
• Need to bring a copy of the curriculum you will be using to teach from.  No curriculum copies will be issued.

The Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) put new rules into place effective September 1, 2019 for nurses who are reactivating their license after a period of inactivity in any jurisdiction for five years or more. Please note, there may also be other circumstances when the IBON requires a nurse refresher course to be taken. 
 
The 鉴黄师app 160-Hour Nurse Refresher course is designed for nurses returning to the healthcare field and will assist in meeting the requirements for RN or LPN License Reactivation in the State of Iowa. (For other States, please consult with your Board of Nursing)
 
One of the primary goals of the refresher course is to assist the inactive nurse to have the ability to return to nursing practice. Each nurse will have the ability to review and update foundational nursing knowledge through an online web-based course that asses their knowledge through learning based modules and assessments and then complete a guided Clinical Preceptorship  demonstrating and putting  to practice basic nursing skills, that help build the confidence and competency to return to practice safely and perform the nursing skills needed to return to full licensure from the IBON.
 
Who is Eligible:

• Any RN or LPN who graduated from an accredited school of nursing, and has previously held an RN or LPN License in the past. This course is NOT an NCLEX review course, nor a substitute for taking the IBON licensing exam. A nurse must have held a nursing license previously in order to take this class.
• A practicing or currently registered nurse who is NOT inactive and desires to update their nursing knowledge and earn Nursing Contact Hours, may also take this course.

Other Steps to Take:

Continuing Education Hours/Nursing Contact Hours:

• The course as required by IBON is set at 160 hours of education.

Class Format: 

• The Nurse Refresher is a web-blended course. It consists of online learning through Canvas which is 鉴黄师app's learning management system and finishes with a clinical preceptorship.
• An overall grade of 78% is required to pass the course successfully
• You will receive an E-book code as part of your tuition; this will be your textbook. 
• We have two class starts every year. The course options are July-December or January-June. 
• Current course cost is $2,249 for the year 2026
• Once you have completed the first portion of the class, we will send IBON a letter of notification that you are at the halfway point successfully, and that you are now ready to begin your Clinical Preceptorship. The IBON will issue back a letter in recognition of this success, and will issue a provisional license or a limited authorization to practice, allowing you to complete the Clinical hours (80) you need to successfully finish the requirements of this course. After this is completed, 鉴黄师app will once again submit a letter to IBON with your full and successful completion of the course. From this point, it is up to the IBON to then issue or reinstate your Iowa Nursing License.

What Will I Need:

• You will need to have regular and reliable internet
• You will need to have a computer, laptop, Chromebook or other reliable device
• You will need basic computer skills and knowledge, i.e. the ability to upload documents, log into 鉴黄师app, ability to navigate or watch tutorials to assist you
• You will need the ability to read and send emails with your 鉴黄师app email
• Reliable transportation for your clinical preceptorship after completing the online portion of the course.

The Victim Impact Awareness class is an educational program designed to teach offenders about the human consequences of crime. In a safe environment, offenders are taught how crime affects the victim and the victim's family, friends, and community, and how it also affects them and their own families, friends, and communities. Specific modules address victimization, property crimes, drugs and society, child maltreatment, assault, robbery, violent crimes, gang mentality, and restorative justice. A key element of the classes is the direct involvement of victims and victim service providers. They tell their personal stories of being victimized or of helping victims to reconstruct their lives after a traumatic crime. Offenders learn the ripple effect caused by crime and understand the value of repairing harm.
